Singapore | August 2025

A huge congratulations to Martin, who represented Bluefins at the World Masters Swimming Championships in Singapore.

Competing in the 45–49yrs age group, he delivered a series of outstanding performances, combining world-class racing with British records and lifetime personal bests.

Results

1st 50m Breaststroke — 30.00 (just off his own British Record record of 29.77 set in June)

1st 100m Breaststroke — 1:07.58 (British Record & Lifetime PB)

1st 100m Freestyle — 54.68 (British Record & Lifetime PB)

4th 50m Butterfly — 26.67 (Lifetime PB)

4th 100m Butterfly — 1:00.85

A Remarkable Achievement

Three World Masters titles, two British records and multiple lifetime bests represent a performance of the highest level.

To continue improving and setting personal bests in the late 40s reflects not just ability, but consistency, discipline and long-term commitment to the sport.

This is what Masters swimming at its best looks like — experienced athletes still developing, still refining and still performing.

What This Represents

Martin’s success is not an isolated result. It reflects the wider strength of the Bluefins Masters environment and the long-term approach to development across the club.

It shows that:

• Performance does not have an age limit

• Progress is still possible with the right structure and consistency

• The pathway in swimming extends far beyond age-group competition

For younger swimmers, it provides a clear example of what long-term involvement in the sport can look like.

Bluefins Masters Performance

Bluefins continues to build a strong Masters programme where swimmers train with purpose, compete at a high level and remain connected to the sport.

Performances like this reinforce an important message: Swimming is not just a short-term journey. It is a lifelong sport.
