Basingstoke Bluefins Masters Swimming 

Basingstoke Bluefins Masters is an established and highly regarded Masters squad in Britain, with consistent performance at County, Regional, National, European and World level.

At the 2025 Swim England National Masters Championships, Bluefins recorded its highest ever national finish, placing 5th overall in the club standings:

1st Trafford Metro SC

2nd Otter SC

3rd Woking SC

4th City of Sheffield SC

5th Basingstoke Bluefins SC

This result reflects the depth, consistency and standards that underpin the Bluefins Masters squad.

Performance and Participation

Bluefins Masters supports a wide range of swimmer backgrounds and ambitions. The squad includes former competitive swimmers returning to structured training, open water and Channel swimmers developing endurance, and Masters athletes competing from local and County meets through to World Championships.

Recent seasons have seen swimmers achieve National, European and World titles, alongside many additional podium finishes, while maintaining a strong training culture built on commitment, hard work and a shared team ethos.​

Standards and Environment

Training within Bluefins Masters is purposeful and structured. Expectations are clear, standards are maintained, and swimmers are encouraged to take responsibility for their own development while contributing positively to the group. The environment supports both performance and long-term participation in the sport.

Training and Facilities

  • Based at Basingstoke Aquadrome, with a 25m, six-lane pool and consistent depth throughout

  • Coached Masters sessions available on weekdays, in both morning and evening slots

  • Additional opportunities for swimmers to train together through public lane sessions and long-course pools

Hampshire County Championship 2025

 

Bluefins Masters retained the Top Club title at the Hampshire Masters Championships, continuing a sustained record of success at County level.

With more than 30 swimmers competing, the squad fielded entries across a broad range of age groups and events. The meet included first-time Masters racers alongside experienced competitors, with consistent contributions across individual swims and relays.

This outcome reflects long-term engagement within the Masters squad and the application of clear training standards over multiple seasons.

The championships also included swimmers from the Sharks Disability Squad (18+), who competed in selected events alongside the Masters team. Their involvement reflected the club’s commitment to inclusive participation within a competitive environment.

British Swimming Masters Decathlon 2025

The British Swimming Masters Decathlon measures all-round Masters performance across a full season.
Points are awarded for contribution across strokes, distances and age groups.
Success depends on depth, consistency and sustained participation.

Hampshire County Masters Team were National Champions in 2023. In 2024 we had 11 Basingstoke Bluefins representing the Hampshire County Masters Team, narrowly winning the South East Championships at the London Aquatic Centre and coming 3rd overall Nationally.
