This week was one to remember for Basingstoke Bluefins as we welcomed the AP Race Team to our club — bringing world-class talent, inspiration, and knowledge straight to our swimmers and families.
We were honoured to host:
🥇 Anna Hopkin — Olympic Gold Medallist & World Record Holder
🥈 Elliot Clogg — Commonwealth Medallist
🎓 Kevin Pickard — AP Race Development Director
💦 Four Inspiring Pool Sessions
Across four dynamic pool sessions, Anna and Elliot brought incredible energy and expertise, sharing their experience at the very highest levels of the sport. From technical skill-building to race execution tips, our swimmers gained insight into what it takes to compete against the best in the world.
👨👩👧 Parent Insights with Kevin Pickard
Alongside the pool sessions, Kevin Pickard delivered a fantastic parent talk via Zoom, giving valuable perspective on long-term athlete development, performance culture, and how parents can best support their swimmers. His knowledge and passion for the sport shone through and left a lasting impression on all who attended.
🙏 A Huge Thank You
What the AP Race Team are doing for our sport is nothing short of phenomenal. Their willingness to give back, share knowledge, and inspire the next generation makes a real difference to clubs like ours.
On behalf of everyone at Bluefins, we’d like to say a massive thank you to Anna, Elliot, Kevin, and the AP Race team for choosing to spend time with us. It was an unforgettable experience that will inspire our swimmers long into the future. 💙
