Entering three teams into the National Arena Swimming League is a deliberate and important part of the Bluefins pathway. It is also no small undertaking. Ask any head coach what it takes to field just one Arena League team and they’ll tell you — the task is enormous. Selection planning, eligibility checks, availability juggling, relay construction, squad balance, logistics, travel, and contingency planning all sit behind the scenes.

I joined Bluefins over the summer break, not really knowing what to expect from a new club where I didn’t know anyone. I was small, skinny, and hardly looked like a swimmer. My parents only put me in lessons because they couldn’t swim themselves.

Just like every club swimmer, Bluefins love a new hat. Whether it’s for training or racing, there’s just something about pulling on a new hat that makes you feel part of something bigger. Since our 2020 relaunch, hats have become more than just kit — they’ve become part of our identity and culture. Outside the club, our hats spark plenty of curiosity too — and one of the questions we’re asked most often is: “What are the different hats about?”

The start of a new season always brings fresh energy ⚡ and new ideas 💡. For Bluefins, this September was no different.

The National Arena Swimming League is one of the UK’s most electric club competitions. For Bluefins, the 2024/25 season was historic: First-ever season with three teams across all divisions, a representation level few clubs in the South East can match. Momentum came off the back of a stellar 2023/24, where our A Team earned promotion to the Premier Division and our B Team powered into Division 1.
