A RECORD-BREAKING 95 BLUEFINS HEAD TO THE 2025 HAMPSHIRE CHAMPIONSHIPS 🏆💙

This January marks a milestone moment for Basingstoke Bluefins, as we proudly announce our biggest ever entry to the Hampshire Age Group and Youth Championships. An incredible 95 swimmers will be representing Bluefins over the next few weekends — a record number that highlights just how far our club has come in recent years.

Growth, Depth, and Progress 🚀

From the youngest first-time county qualifiers to seasoned competitors chasing finals and medals, this entry represents the strength and depth of the Bluefins pathway. Just a few years ago, our county entries were far smaller. Today, thanks to the combined effort of our swimmers, families, and coaching team, we stand as one of the largest and fastest-growing squads in Hampshire.

This is proof that:

• Our Skills Academy and Development squads are producing the next generation of county-level talent.

• Our Performance squads are consistently driving standards at the top.

• Our coaches, volunteers, and families are creating an environment where swimmers thrive.

  
  

The Hampshire Championships 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

The Hampshire Age Group and Youth Championships are the first big step on the competitive pathway. For many swimmers, it’s their first taste of a championship environment: long days, tough competition, and the excitement of representing their club. For others, it’s an opportunity to defend titles, chase PBs, or use the event as a stepping stone towards Regionals and Nationals later in the season.

Whatever their level, every swimmer will be wearing the Bluefins cap with pride — and that, in itself, is an achievement to celebrate.

A Club on the Rise 📈

The scale of this year’s entry shows just how far Bluefins has come since our post-Covid rebuild. From 76 county records broken in 2023 to 119 and counting in 2025, the growth in performance has gone hand-in-hand with the growth in participation. Almost 100 swimmers competing at County level is not just a statistic — it’s a clear sign of a thriving, ambitious, and united club.
