It has been an outstanding week for Basingstoke Bluefins Swimming Club at the 2025 English Championships. Across six days of racing, our swimmers delivered performances that reflected the depth, preparation and resilience of the programme. Club records, medals, finals appearances and consistent top-10 finishes made this one of the most successful national meets in the club’s history.
From first-time qualifiers to experienced championship performers, Bluefins swimmers stepped up on the national stage. Championship titles and podium finishes were matched by a high volume of finals swims and personal bests. Beyond results alone, what stood out most was the consistency across the squad and the ability to perform repeatedly under pressure.
From Finals to Medals: Bluefins Deliver on the National Stage
Special recognition goes to our medal winners who led the team with composed and high-quality racing. Piaras produced an exceptional championship with double gold in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke, both in club record times, alongside a strong swim in the 200m Breaststroke. Daniel C claimed silver in the 100m Freestyle with a club record performance and reached finals in the 200m, 400m, and 800m Freestyle, finishing inside the top 10 in each. Tom added further success with silver in the 100m Butterfly, another club record and a close fifth place in the 200m Butterfly.
Across the wider team, there were numerous top-10 finishes that underlined the strength of the squad. Rhys placed ninth in the 400m Freestyle and sixth in the 800m Freestyle, setting a club record. Oli P finished fourth in the 50m Backstroke and raced strongly in the 100m Backstroke. Jody secured tenth in both the 400m IM and 200m Backstroke. Will reached finals in all three breaststroke events, finishing seventh in the 50m, sixth in the 100m and ninth in the 200m. Rebecca placed ninth in both the 800m and 1500m Freestyle, while Clara, Freya, Cameron, Ethan, Ted and Lizzie all contributed valuable swims and represented the club with distinction throughout the week
