A short read for the car journey

Swimming should feel safe and welcoming. If you feel worried, upset, uncomfortable or unsure about something, you do not have to deal with it by yourself.

You can talk to an adult you trust. You can tell a parent, carer, coach, Team Manager (TM), teacher, Club Welfare Officer or another adult you trust.

An adult you trust should listen, take your worry seriously and help you find the right support.

You do not need to wait until a worry feels big. You can ask for help with something that happened at swimming, online, at school or somewhere else.

You do not need to know exactly how to explain it. Start with the part you can say and let the adult help you with the rest.

The adult may need to ask another person for help. This is so the right people can support you and does not mean you have done anything wrong.

If the first person you speak to does not understand or help, tell another adult you trust. Keep speaking until someone listens.

You can also contact Childline free on 0800 1111 if you want to speak to someone outside the club or your family.

Asking for help is always okay. You are doing nothing wrong by telling someone about a worry.

Ask an adult you trust: Can I talk to you about something that is worrying me?
