Welcome to Skills Academy, the home of where swimmers start their journey learning fundamental skills in a squad’s programme. Skills Academy is aimed at swimmers aged 7-11 years and is the base for swimmers joining the club programme.
Skills Academy, Aquadrome & Sports Centre
Within our main Skills Academy, we have Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels for swimmers to progress through as the base of their pathway in swimming aimed at swimmers aged 8 - 11 years.
Skills Academy Squads
The core aim of Skills Academy is to build a base that will allow those swimmers who want to race, to be ready with the right level of skill needed, but also for those swimmers that wish to remain in the sport for social/life skills to have the skills to be able to enjoy swimming throughout their childhood and hopefully into adulthood.
Skills Academy squads are aligned with Swim England Swimming Club Awards programme.
The 6 progressive levels help children make the transition from the Swim England Learn to Swim Programme to the club level swimmer.
Our new ‘Pre-Squad’ group is part of Skills Academy and aimed at swimmers aged 7 - 9 years.
This group is specifically aimed at those swimmers working towards joining the main Skills Academy where we focus on improving skills, building stamina and get them ready to join our Skills Academy Bronze squad.
These swimmers are usually towards the top end of a 'Learn to Swim' programme, and are keen to join a Club structure.
