Senior Club Captain
How long have you been with Bluefinsand your journey so far?
I initially joined the Bluefins Lessons Programme to complete my Stages 5, 6 & 7. (No other swim school wanted me because of my breaststroke feet!). I moved into the Devs at the start of 2016and started swimming competitively atthe 2016 Club Champs. My first away meet was at Reading later that year.
Best moments (so far)
My best moment so far was the Finals of the 50m Backstroke at the2017 County Development Meet. I took my first ever Gold Medal and achieved my first ever County Auto time. I made Regionals in 2018 and won Silver Medal in the 1500m Freestyle at Counties in 2019.
What’s your favourite set?
My favourite training set is probably 45 x 25m Freestyle on a one-minutecycle time. Its hard work, but I enjoy diving and so this set is both good fun and great practice.
I’ve been to several competitions now, travelling as far afield as Bristol and Plymouth. My favourite to date was the London Long Course Summer Open in June 2019. It was great experience to swim at the Aquatics Centre, the Olympic pool is really fast.
What’s an interesting fact about you we may not know?
An interesting fact about me -I started my swim lessons in the Beechdown pool when I was about 4 years old. After 18 months in the beginner’s group I’d made no progress and still wouldn’t put my face in the water. Mum & Dad were about to stop my swimming completely when my swim teacher, Maggie, told them not to worry, she said before long I’d be competing with Bluefins!
