Swimming and Coaching Background
I started teaching in 1992 when my children had swimming lessons. I moved onto coaching in 2003 where I worked alongside Steve Greenfield who was a great mentor during this time. I became head coach 2005 - 2008 where I took swimmers to county and regional championships. I have been involved in many areas of the club over the year's as a teacher, official, Chairperson, Masters swimmer and coach. I had a break from coaching for a few years before returning to coach Masters with Neil. Over the last year I have been lead teacher for Bluefins lessons programme and now coach Senior Skills and lead for Skills Academy squads. I feel I have Bluefins running through my blood.
In recent years I have enjoyed open water swimming, in 2010 I was part of a 3 person relay team that completed the 26.4km Rapperswil to Zurich swim and in 2011 I was part of a relay team that swam the English Channel.
Favourite Set
As a swimmer anything set that involves 200’s and 400’s or swimming in a lake or the sea, I’m a bit of a plodder these days.
As a coach, technique work that involves breaststroke and fly, it can be challenging with the younger swimmers and equally rewarding when they get the technique right.

"I started swimming in the early 70’s where I joined Basingstoke Swimming Club for a short time, this was back in the day when a Saturday night gala was all about going on the coach with your team mates and stopping for a bag of chips on the way home."

London Aquatics Centre, I’ve only swum their once, never raced there and not likely too either but how fantastic would that be.
